Anton Vera was in his 12th year at the British School Manila when he founded Empowering Brilliant Minds (EBM). He chaired the very first Junior Council and during his term, introduced programs that will benefit the underprivileged children.
EBM is Anton’s brainchild. He aggressively organized activities to raise funds for the pilot projects of the foundation. His relentless efforts resulted to the construction of pre-school classrooms across provincial locations , namely: Cavite, Quezon and Lanao del Norte. Anton also successfully established a uniform and rice subsidy program for the Makabata School Foundation, an institution that provides education for street children.
Anton’s passion to accomplish the objectives of EBM inspired his three siblings to expand the EBM mission. His sister , Francesca, initiated a “Kids Teaching Kids” program where students of British School Manila taught English, Math and Reading to street school children. His brother, Miguel, completed the improvement of the library facilities of Scoula di Scienza del Mija in Cavite and organized a sports program for Makabata School Foundation. His youngest sibling, Paolo, embarked on a health and sanitation project for a community of indigenous people in Pampanga and a feeding program for the school children of Jose Fabella Memorial School in Mandaluyong City.
Anton is presently studying in Stanford University, along with Francesca and Miguel. Despite his rigid schedule, he continues to be involved in the management of EBM.
